Convertibles can be named one of the most fascinating and charming cars ever, but, dear ladies, let’s face the truth, they have mush more disadvantages then advantages. The cons of the convertibles are the following:
- security and safety
It goes without saying that it is the biggest disadvantage. In most of such cars a top is only a canvas that creates an illusion of reliability. You vehicle can be easily stolen because it will take an intruder only a couple of minutes to break into your car. Also you and your passengers are vulnerable to maniacs and murderers in such cars.
- durability
Such cars start looking older than they are after a couple of years. Why? Because they are exposed to sun rays, that influences dashboard and seats in a very poor way.
- fuel consumption
Fuel consumption skyrockets when you are trying to drive as quick as possible without a top.
- roof
Roof materials are very weak and in a couple of years it can be completely worn out.
- maintenance
Such cars are very expensive toys and it will cost you a huge some of money to maintain it.

You are quiet right there with all those disadvantages but not all convertibles have canvas roofs many cars are now coming out this hard retractable tops making them a lot safer than before and yes the do use more petrol, but one doesn’t alway have the top down only on great days.
Yep, I agree that there are significant disadvantages.
For me, the sun all the time hitting my head is the most I do not like.
