Frankly speaking the best advice to drivers when the weather turns cold and nasty and when the road is slippery – not to drive at all, but if you can’t avoid driving you have to understand that winter driving is challenging for both – you and your car. Such weather tests you and you should be ready.

Winter Driving Tips

  • think of winterizing you car beforehand (I mean change tyres, check levels of all liquids and state of your breaks);
  • let gas tank always be over half full;
  • make sure your wipers are still wipers and they can fulfil their main function;
  • when it snows always drive with your headlights on;
  • ALWAYS leave enough and even a lot of space to stop and start;
  • KEEP a SAFE distance between your car and other vehicles;
  • NEVER use cruise control on slick roads;
  • try to drive on well travelled roads;
  • be sure your car is equipped with all emergency items: first aid kit, a warm blanket, a flashlight, an ice scraper …
  • ALWAYS wear your seat belt;
  • keep your lights and windshield clean;
  • decrease your speed;
  • brake gently to avoid skidding.
