From the 1st sight, tuning is a cute deal, cars become great and nice to look at, owners are satisfied with their exquisite vehicles and everybody is happy… Unless, people do not pay attention and remember about legal requirements for car tuning…

First of all, please, understand, that in the USA the following regulation can vary from location to location and almost each location has its own rules and requirements. These tips are only general, but in order to be 100 percent sure you have to contact a state motor vehicle agency in your state or just consult at the police department. Nevertheless, all the requirements are applied to these spheres of modifications; modification considering sound, exterior and emissions.

So, let’s start from emissions, because it is one of the most urgent topics of nowadays.

Car Tuning Legal Requirements – Emissions.

It goes without saying, that almost all vehicles of the USA have to pass a special test. Some cars can fail this test, in such a case they have to be either modified or repaired. Only meeting this demand, it will be possible for these cars to be present on the roads of America. For instance, while modifying your car you were looking for high speed driving, you got it, but now your car emissions are great, so you can’t drive this car.

Car Tuning Legal Requirements – Exterior.

From the 1st sight, it looks like a rubbish, yeah? How an exterior of the car can be dangerous to people? It can be, believe me. Just imagine, your car has neon lights – they can distract other drivers from driving. Or you made ground effects on your car – it can be too low and unsafe. Actually, just remember, that in some cases some tuning details can be prohibited, just find out which!

Car Tuning Legal Requirements – Sound.

Nowadays, drivers adore changing the exhaust system of their cars, thus, making them sounding loud and even too loud. So, it can be a distractor for other drivers.

But, it is no reason to be upset, you can modify your car in such a way as you like, but to drive it only on private land or on the tracks. And what is more, it is essential, you can transport your car only on trailer or a flat bed.

It's so true. The CVT (continuously variable transmission) operates smoothly with no jerking and having more speeds these days (6 as opposed to 3-5) means better gas mileage, too.
