Opel Flextreme car concept 2007

Opel Flextreme Concept as many other cars was presented at the popular International Auto Show in Frankfurt and can be proud of its unusual design. What is more, it is a really electric and environmentally friendly car, it is perfect at reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. It possesses a 1.3 turbo engine, it speed up to 55 kph, from the first sight, it can seem, that it is not a car at all and it is easier to use your feet than to drive at such a speed. But, be fair, are you driving at a speed 100 kph (when you are using a usual road?) Of course, not… So, this speed is enough for a usual city driving.

Opel Flextreme Concept Car - back view

After a small introduction, let’s talk about design. A large transparent roof, enormously large luggage section, comfortable seats (Zafira’s seating system), rear carrier system. This car has only 3 doors, but this circumstance doesn’t influence its convenience and accessibility to any part of the car. Opel Flextreme Concept looks like an alien or a visitor from the remote planet. The car possesses geometrically right forms and combines structural minimalism with luxurious abundance. The design of headlights is really strange, they are so curvy, even boomerang-shape and the back of the car is very stylish; with a naked eye it can’t be noticed any separation between side windows, they seem to be completely integral windows. Special attention must be given to doors: they are like big butterflies, they are not just beautiful, but practical as well – when you are parking your car very close to a wall or something like this, you have an incredible access to your trunk. Also, they are much safer than conventional ones.

Driving performance of the car is rather high – the car is balanced, feels itself rather confidently on the road. The technology of engine making is based on the best GM techniques, the source of the energy is a lithium-ion battery, some more energy comes from an engine – 1.3-liter CDTI. It is amazing, but this engine has no connection to wheels and it is used exceptionally to charge the batteries, when they have no power to accomplish driving process. Opel Flextreme is predicted to emit less than 40 g of C02 per km. This vehicle is created in accordance with anew technology to use a source of energy that is available right now.

It's so true. The CVT (continuously variable transmission) operates smoothly with no jerking and having more speeds these days (6 as opposed to 3-5) means better gas mileage, too.
