What about those times when we carry weight in the trunk that is waaaaaaay heavier than normal or when we load the car with a full compliment of, say 7 or 8 passengers in the van and moving suitcases?

Does this 'tweel' design use more or less rubber overall than traditional radials? Are they likely to be more or less expensive? As with any new technology, they are likely to be more expensive at first, but what about further 'down the road'? Are the vehicle manufacturers going to credit us the amount of four aluminum wheels? Or negate that cost and charge us more for the convenience of airless tires? How does wind drag factor into the open tire design? Will they save us money at the pump? Are they balanceable? What about for those of us who live in northern midwest states? Won't they fill up with snow and slush? Thanks, CE
